A few weeks ago, my husband and I were in need of a short getaway and decided that Sedona was the perfect spot. The drive is just under two hours from the Phoenix area, and there are so many amazing places to stay. I chose L’Auberge de Sedona, mostly because the resort’s intimate cottages are located right on Oak Creek in one of the most serene and romantic settings.
L’Auberge features one of the top restaurants in the Southwest. But, by now you know that I’m more (okay, a LOT more) of a spa girl than a foodie! So I was most excited to try out the Spa at L’Auberge.
After the car ride up north, I figured a massage would serve my body best. I woke up on Saturday morning and headed straight to the spa, which is nestled in between the other luxury cottages on the resort’s property. Although the spa is quaint, it fits in perfectly with the vibe of the rest of the resort. Immediately upon walking through the door I was welcomed into a inviting, cozy entry area. After checking in, I was lead to the locker area to change into one of the comfiest spa robes I have ever experienced. Then, I retreated to the relaxing area where the warmth and the relaxing ambiance nearly put me to sleep!
Because the spa is intimate, you can expect to have a very private experience… there will never be more than a few people in the spa at the same time. But, if you are looking to enjoy a romantic couples massage, the Spa at L’Auberge does have a couples massage room to accommodate for those treatments.
My massage – a 60 minutes Swedish massage – was outstanding. Prior to starting the massage, the therapist asked about my specific needs and I was able to tell her which problem areas to focus on (neck, shoulders and biceps – all that working out was making me sore!). As she worked, I could literally feel the tension melting from my neck and shoulders. The treatment almost felt like a blend of a Swedish and a Deep Tissue massage, which was exactly what I needed.
The Spa at L’Auberge also offers private in-room treatments as well as Spa Cabana creekside treatments (which is was I would have definitely chosen except it was February and much too cold outside!). Plus, the Spa offers many other services aside from massages, including facials, body treatments and hand/foot treatments.
I would highly recommend a trip to L’Auberge for your next local getaway, especially if you’re looking for a romantic excursion. The quaint beauty and natural peacefulness of L’Auberge and all of its amenities provides the perfect atmosphere to relax and truly getaway.
