Peoria’s hidden day spa gem for massage therapy bliss.
As a lucky Spa Girl allowed to skip out of my duties for a few hours, I was counting the minutes to my visit to Absolutely Chic Day Spa for a one-hour Swedish massage. Hidden on the second floor of a medical complex, the boutique space is as cozy as can be and decorated with coordinating colors and thoughtfully placed decor. The minute I walked through the door, I was impressed by the staff’s warm, friendly vibe and felt right at home. Before my treatment I relaxed in their pretty purple waiting room and flipped through a stack of magazines. It wasn’t long before my massage therapist welcomed me to the spa and whisked me back to the treatment area.
The spacious treatment room was warmly lit with natural sunlight spilling from the wall-length windows and reminded me of the perfect place to curl up and take an afternoon nap. Before my massage, my therapist took extra time to ask about my problem areas and what to focus on. From sitting at the computer and hitting the gym, my upper back, neck and shoulders were extra sore.
I climbed into the cushy, warm treatment bed and immediately relaxed. When my therapist came back into the room, she propped my feet up with a bolster and I was ready to go. She made sure I was comfortable with the pressure and kneaded out all of my knots really focusing on the areas we talked about. I was so deeply relaxed that I floated in out and out of consciousness and finally gave in and dozed off for a bit.
After my massage was over, I slowly came out of my blissful state and wandered back to the front waiting area. My therapist had a glass of water for me and I seamlessly checked out (no upselling or pressure here!). The massage completely melted all my tension and did the trick for my sore muscles and stress.
Absolutely Chic Day Spa gets the Spa Girls two thumbs up for making me feel like a VIP during my visit and reminding me why regular massage is such an easy way to relieve stress and kick-start your energy. Now back to the hard work of being a Spa Girl!
